Fairway woods and hybrids are often overlooked when new club ranges are released by the major manufacturers and most of the fanfare and adulation gets directed to Drivers and Iron Sets. Fairway woods are becoming increasingly important as courses are lengthened and tight tee shots now require the ball to still be hit a fair distance as well as being hit straight.

The new range of Cobra RADSPEED Fairway woods has four new models for the golfing public to choose from, with each one bringing different qualities to the table. The RADSPEED fairway wood is the most mainstream offering and is likely to be the preferred choice for the majority of players.

The Cobra RADSPEED fairway wood takes its name from a popular engineering concept called Radius of Gyration, which is the distance from the Centre of Gravity to the position of the technology. The Cobra R&D team found that by increasing both the Radius of Gyration and the distance between the front and back clubhead weights, they could create a blend of speed, forgiveness and spin control that had not been achieved before. Cobra’s new technology has been named Radial Weighting and has the potential to take your golf to a new level.

The Cobra RADSPEED fairway wood benefits from a CNC milled face which allows the face to be constructed to a far more exacting standard and prevents ball speed loss on shots that are struck off centre. The now familiar rails are once again present on the sole of the 3-wood but have now been made hollow saving 10 grams of weight to be redistributed more effectively throughout the club head. The rails have been proven to improve turf interaction and have stabilising effect on the club head as it contacts the ground.

The RADSPEED family of fairway woods has 23g’s of Radial Weighting to deployed differently dependant of the characteristics that they are trying to achieve. The standard RADSPEED is the most neutrally weighted in the range with a 7g fixed weight seated at the rear of the head whilst two 8g weights sit closer to the face. This results in a wonderfully balanced blend of fast ball speeds and club head stabilty.

If you are looking to purchase one or more new fairway woods to help you make the upcoming season your best, then the Cobra RADSPEED fairway wood, would be an excellent choice.
